As the final weeks of school roll in, we’re all looking for meaningful, low-prep ways to keep students engaged, reflect on the year, and have a little fun before summer. That’s why I created a special end-of-year bundle that combines two of my favorite activities:
My Year as a Character
+
Classroom Awards Ceremony
Together, they’re the perfect way to wrap up your classroom story with creativity, laughter, and connection.
My Year as a Character: Reflect with a Twist
Instead of the usual reflection worksheet, this activity turns your students into main characters in their own story.
Students work through a fun six-part journal:
- Setting – What did their school year “world” look like?
- Plot Twists – What surprises or challenges came up?
- Side Characters – Which friends and classmates made the year special?
- Mentors – Who guided or supported them along the way?
- Climax – What was their biggest achievement or proudest moment?
- Epilogue – What are their hopes or goals for next year?
Add-ons like a character card, book cover design page, and cast list let students truly make it their own. It’s the perfect mix of reflection and storytelling.
Classroom Awards: Celebrate Every Personality
Want a fun way to recognize your students without the same old “Most Improved” awards?
This pack includes 30+ creative and funny superlatives, like:
- “Plot Twist of the Year”
- “Most Likely to Be a Meme”
- “Kindest Character”
- “Best Dramatic Exit”
- “Classroom Comedian”
- and many more!
Students vote using ready-made ballots, and you can present editable, printable certificates in a fun classroom ceremony.
Bonus Idea: Combine Them for a “Cast Party”
While each activity stands on its own, they’re even more fun together!
Try hosting a Cast Party:
After students finish their “My Year as a Character” reflections, celebrate with a themed awards day — as if they’re all stars in the story of your classroom. It’s a great way to bring closure to the year while celebrating every student’s unique role.
